Los Angeles, CA - June 2007 - Bert-Co, a key manufacturer of folding cartons, point-of-purchase materials and specialty packaging for the past 77 years has recently developed its own sustainable issue policies, increasing the service value to Bert-Co Clientele. This new plan, updated quarterly, embraces new options in the growing "green" movement. All key area changes will benefit efforts in the environmentally friendly corporate branding of the product supply chain.
Bert-Co's internal process includes improvement in minimizing waste matter and an increase in efficiency throughout all Bert-Co facilities. Plans include becoming certified in the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). The water filtration system has recently been completed. They have already seen changes that have saved half of the water resources previously being used. This factor has caused mandatory man hours less labor intensive. Bert-Co also plans to make progress in reducing the plastic styrene content of their DVD/CD trays.
Shifting into an in-depth green initiative has proven interesting in working with Bert-Co's current Suppliers' and strategic Partners. Some new substrate options such as post consumer SBS, (a recycled paperboard substrate), may yet prove to be more costly or in short supply. The variety of recycled board substrate options provides a continuous research and development opportunity for all involved.
All paperboard suppliers to Bert-Co, are however, compliant with either the Abundant Forrest Alliance or Sustainable Forrest Initiative. Apart from the current testing of resources and new investments strategies, Bert-Co commits to an ongoing involvement with recycling of paperboard waste as well as continuing to offer new structural designs that reduce material usage.
Bert-Co creates structural designs and produces a wide range of custom printed products including packaging and point-of-purchase materials. They are best known for their fast turnaround times, with full service plants in Los Angeles, California and Pulaski, Tennessee. Both facilities are ISO 9001:2000.
