Los Angeles, CA - July 2007 - Bert-Co, a key manufacturer of folding cartons, point-of-purchase materials and specialty packaging has received several Best of Division awards in numerous categories at the annual Premiere Print competition sponsored by PIASC. The Printing Industries Association of Southern California (PIASC) categories include: Packaging/Cartons, Finishing, Techniques/Thermography, Foil Stamping/Embossing, Greeting Cards, and Specialty Printing.
Bert-Co, best known for multi-media packaging, also received awards for gourmet food cartons and the Company's holiday card. The elegant Chocolate Covered Oranges package from The Torn Ranch Company, won in the carton category for its unique shape and use of Bert-Co's spot silk screen capabilities. The Venetian Hotel and Casino's candy cartons also won an award for its clean modular nesting, and easy use of Bert-Co's foil stamping.
Bert-Co's elaborate annual holiday card, won Best of Division in the card category. This creative structure featured several of Bert-Co's specialty capabilities including glitter silk screen UV on PVC. Bert-Co's in-house structural design team annually spends the last quarter of each year preparing to wow and awe Bert-Co Clientele with a unique and exciting holiday card.
The Best of Division Winners in multi media packaging were: X-Men the Last Stand, for Finishing Techniques category, and the M*A*S*H collectible box set package, for the Specialty Printing category. The presentation of this last theatrical release of the X-Men package, utilizes a paperboard "O-sleeve" with two flaps that swing open to reveal an image of the movies main Characters.
Used in conjunction was an outer PVC "O-sleeve", with a sculptured embossed impression of Wolverine's hand/claw, appearing to tear open the inner package. This use of sculptured embossed PVC had not been done previously and was a huge success for Team Bert-Co.
The M*A*S*H collectors dream set, contains the entire television show Series in one package. Within the tall set up box, a clip board comes on one side of the inner package adjacent to four fold-out sleeves. Each sleeve holds 9 CDs in order by episode. The outer package is wrapped in a printed faux military canvas material.
Math Blasters, a children's software package, also won Best of Division in the Finishing Techniques category. This book style 6 color carton, features a beautifully sculptured emboss of the main character. This package, along with all the rest of the Best of Division awards, will be automatically entered into the PIA's national competition where they will be considered to win the most prestigious award in printing, the Benjamin Franklin Award, or 'Benny'.
